Baptism for Children

Every child is a miracle of new life, an amazing gift that we often want to thank God for and give them the best start possible in life.

Bringing your child to God to say THANK YOU is a great response, and we’d love to help you do that.

There are a couple of options:

A Thanksgiving Service
A baptism or christening service

Thanksgiving Service

A thanksgiving service is a celebration of the new life that God has given you. It’s a chance to say THANK YOU to God and celebrate this precious new child with your family and friends.

A thanksgiving service is the best choice if you don’t have a faith in God yourself, and wouldn’t perhaps be able to make the promises to follow Jesus that a baptism or christening service requires. It allows you to give thanks for your child, without joining the church or making a promise of faith.

Baptism or Christening

A baptism service also gives thanks for this precious new life, but baptism is also an ACT OF FAITH. On behalf of your child you will be promising to pray for them, to bring them up in the Christian way, and teach them to follow Jesus and live like him. It’s a way of offering our lives to God.

If you do want to commit yourself and your child to God, then a baptism or christening is the best thing for your child.

Part of the preparation for a baptism or christening involves you meeting with us to talk through baptism and what it means, and there’s plenty of space for questions and thinking things through.
